She decides exactly what she wants to eat from her plate and in what order, every bite of the way. She even walks into the pantry and points at what she would like for a snack, and she usually gets it. Opportunity.
She's ventured up all the steps and across all the bridges, all the way up to the very top of the playground equipment, to then go down the biggest spiral slide at the park. Freedom.
She doesn't know it, but all over the world there are places that children live where they do not have these things.
Today at the park as I take a breath of sweet fresh Arizona air, surrounded by my beautiful neighborhood and the sound of children playing because they don't have school today, I remember and say a prayer for our American Veterans and Active Duty Military who have all in some way sacrificed -- their time, their comfort, their sleep, their appetites, their desires, the precious moments with their children, their holidays, their lives -- to preserve our freedom.
Thank you Veterans, Soldiers, Airmen, Sailors, Marines and Coast Guard for your service and for your sacrifice day in and day out.
